WOK Stir-Fry Radio

Album art for WOK Stir-Fry Radio playlists

I sent my first WOK mixtape as a year-end holiday gift to friends in 1997, and again in 1999. W and K were (and still remain) the opening call letters of terrestrial radio stations. And an oft-repeated message to home cooks in the 1990s was that stir-frying kept the flavors of ingredients distinct from one another.

I rebooted the brand in 2019 as a series of Spotify playlists, which during the pandemic I published as often as weekly. Links below are to Apple Music, to which I began migrating in 2026.

Mixtapes can be thematic, or can be shaped to tell a narrative. They can settle into a groove, or create a mood or vibe—an evocation of emotion and time and place.

WOK Stir-Fry Radio attempts none of these. Instead it plays a single track that I believe could be your next favorite song. And then it plays another. And then one more.

Please enjoy these 5,000+ tracks 🎧 each individually hand-picked for what I do sincerely hope will be your listening pleasure 😀
